Hallie | Almont Baby Photography

March 28th, 2011

Hallie was such a sweet thing to work with. She was very lovey and smiley, my two favorite things! My favorite part about this session is the pictures we got to get with her grandma. Grandma lives in PA but visits very frequently to see her adorable granddaughter. Don’t you wish you had pictures like this with your Grandma?

Abby | Shelby Township Child Photography

March 28th, 2011

Abby is the daughter of one of my first friends, Amy. Amy, her twin sister, Tracy, and I lived across the street from each other growing up. They were my best friends and we spent every single day playing, especially in the summer. I have some of the best memories from then. We used to ride bikes, run through the sprinklers, play Barbies, house, and detectives… Amy would make us play horses. :) Now Amy has her own little girl and I hope she finds friends like we did. She is the sweetest, fiestiest little thing and a total lover. Meet Abby, 2 years old.

Eli and Isaac | Rochester MI Family Photography

March 22nd, 2011

Before I get to these adorable boys, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out to see my booth at the Tummy to Toddler Expo yesterday. There was a huge turnout! Along with all the new families I met, about 15 current clients showed up with their babies. I can’t thank you enough for all your support. I’ll be posting pictures soon of the booth!

Now on to these two. I love these boys. Their family is filled with wonderful, sweet people. I met them last year and did 2 sessions with their family. Their mom and dad, along with their grandma, grandpa, aunt, and uncle, have been nothing but gracious and welcoming to me. I’m lucky to know them all. In a few months, these little guys will become big brothers as their mama is having her third baby. I cannot wait! Mom had the idea to do a few pictures in Eli’s superhero bedroom and I was pleasantly surprised at how adorable the room was. They did such an awesome paint job! Meet Eli and Isaac.

Claire | Ann Arbor Newborn Photography

March 15th, 2011

As you know, I bring an assistant with me to every newborn session. It helps make the session run smoothly and it allows the parents to just sit back and relax. I have three assistants the rotate for sessions but when baby Claire arrived and we booked the session, I found out 2 of my assistants were on vacation and the other was sick. I put out a message to my facebook friends and the first to respond just so happened to be one of the mama’s friends! We kept it a secret and Mom was very surprised when her friend, Stacy, showed up. Stacy was a great help and caught onto the drill real quick.

Baby Claire was a great little girl for us. So cute and pudgy. Her big brother, Drew, got to get in a few and was so adorable for his 18 month pictures. I was so happy that I got to use a few new props for their session. And their kitchen had an amazing little nook with the best natural light – it would make any natural light photographer jealous! The family’s already seen their gallery, but I couldn’t help but share. Take a look! Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom. :)

My Family

March 8th, 2011

I think most of you know bits and pieces about my family story, but I feel that when you know someone’s family, you can really understand that person. So I want to tell you about my very special family. We are very unique in that our circumstances are rare, but our relationships are even rarer.

I grew up the youngest of 3. The baby of the family. My mom and dad had my two sisters, Alyssa and Amy, and then I came as the surprise (the very special, wanted surprise!!). At the time, my sisters were 14 and 10 and my momma was having a baby at 40 (sorry, Ma!). When I was around 12, my parents divorced and each remarried in the next couple years. With that, I gained two stepsisters, a brother-in-law, 2 step-nieces (Shelby and Taylor, my newborn assistants), and a bunch of extended family.

A few years later, my baby brother was born. My buddy Luke. With 17 years between us, I felt like a little mommy to him and we immediately had an unspoken connection like I’d never known before. He was slightly attached to my hip, but I didn’t mind. :) Then along came “Little Buddy,” Blake, when I was 19. He was a ham since the day he was born and we love his wild, hilarious quirkiness. So here we were, Blake the youngest and Alyssa the oldest at 33.

Next came my niece, Gracyn. I’m sure you all have seen her before a million times as she is the most photogenic little girl ever (I can’t help but take a million pictures of her!). My brothers became “little uncles” at 3 and 1. And now, Alyssa and Amy are both pregnant. Amy is due to have her surprise baby on March 29th and Alyssa is having a boy in May.

The crazy things about my family are not the obvious things. It’s that our family has so much love, despite the circumstances. I couldn’t be happier than when I have all my family in the same room. The kids don’t understand that it isn’t exactly the norm to have a niece a couple years younger, or that their sisters are old enough to be their mothers. They don’t know that most kids don’t scour the fridge and play games at their dad’s ex-wife’s house, or that my grandpa isn’t really theirs, too. When you take away all outside views of oddness, it’s a simple purity that remains. A bit of innocence. Just plain unconditional love. I feel so lucky to have the family I do.

Grayson | Macomb MI Baby Photography

March 8th, 2011

Grayson. The most adorable little man with these great brown eyes and perfect skin, and by far the longest 3-month-old I have ever seen! I walked in and his little legs were sticking out of his swing seat and he didn’t even fit in my go-to three-month bucket! Thankfully I spotted a big basket in the family’s living room that worked perfectly.

Almost 2 months ago he joined his family in the most special of ways – adoption. Now three months old, you can tell the new parent love buzz has not worn off yet for his momma and daddy! You can so see the love in their eyes. It was awesome to have his adoring grandma and aunts on hand for a few snapshots, too. They are all so in love. I wanted to make sure I captured that love in his family’s first pictures. Can you see it?

Maryn | Ann Arbor Baby Photography

March 3rd, 2011

Little Maryn was a total doll for her pictures. I keep getting all these babies with bright blue eyes and I can’t help but get jealous! Her eyes just pop in the pictures, don’t you think? It was so fun getting to play with her for a couple hours and her parents are awesome!

The new blog debut!

February 21st, 2011

I have been wanting a new blog for SO long and finally the day has come. It is not totally finished (the “about” pages need their text), but I figured I can still post some pictures for you while it is still in the making. You can still visit the old blog by clicking here, but this new blog allows me to post pictures much bigger. There are a ton of other sweet features I can’t wait to use!

For the inaugural post, here is my oldest sister Alyssa’s pregnancy pictures. I visited her last month in San Diego for a week and we took a trip to the beach for pictures. Believe it or not, it was her first time to the beach in San Diego and she’s lived there for months! Trust me, when I go back in May to photograph my new little nephew, we will be back on the beach for his pictures! I can’t wait! She will be back in a couple weeks for her baby shower, so I am hoping to get some pictures of both my preggo sisters (Amy is due is just 5 weeks or so).

Here we go!
